There are some good picnic grounds, and two main trail heads, one near the bottom on the left at the top of the Church Fork road, and the other further up the canyon on the right (up to Mount Olympus) just a little past a beautiful, old, moderately expensive restaurant called Log Haven. In my opinion, the best time to hike here is early summer when everything is blooming and still green.
